;; 1. Rules ;; 1.1 - Site and Role-Playing Rules ; 1.1a - Site Rules
The following list of rules must be followed by all members of the club. No one is above these rules, including staff members.
1; The website is open to all ages, but be aware that not everyone here is going to be able to handle everything you can write. Any questionable content needs to be warned about in the subject.
2; To build off of number one, please do not use language like it's going out of style. Cursing every other word won't appeal to too many people.
3; No pornographic images, yada yada, I shouldn't have to write a novel about it. You agreed to it in the terms, so you're in for it if an admin sees it.
4; Please, only one character per account. This makes everything a whole lot easier for the admins and mods.
; 1.1b - Role-Playing Rules
The following rules are expected to be followed by all members while Role-Playing.
1; Power-Playing is not allowed. This is when one person takes control of another player's character without their permission. Even the simplest forms of Power-Play (PP) is annoying.
2; Perfect characters (Usually called Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus) aren't allowed. This is when one person's character is beautiful, flawlessly intelligent, and basically everything else that would allow them to be perfect.
3; You can not assume something that another person's character did not signify or say. This means that if someone was to say: 'Sorrow filled his heart at the sight of her, but he hid it behind a smile.' You would say 'What's wrong?' or something to that extent. It could possibly ruin an entire story's plot.
4; OOC (Out of Character) is allowed, but it must accompany a post. The occasional 'Bump' or 'Can I join?' post is allowed, but it must have something like parentheses '()', brackets '[]' or even 'OOC://' to show that it is Out of Character. Too much OOC-only posts without any content will result in the thread being locked.
5; You are expected to Role-Play in the Third Person Past Tense
;; 1.2 - Interactive Role-Playing Rules ; 1.2 Interactive Role-Playing Rules All those that participate in Interactive Role-Play are expected to follow these simple rules in addition to the previous ones.
1; Staff members keep records of everything. Don't bother attempting to fool the system, or you will be brutally punished for doing so.
2; Please use the given forms when making a transaction, purchasing, etc. These forms can be found in Section 4.
3; When dueling with another member/group, please wait until the Dueling Moderator has arrived before attempting to duel. While the Dueling Moderator will assist you all in the duel, it is also strictly against dueling rules to begin without one.
4; Travelers (whether solitary or with a Nomad Group) are expected to follow the guide given in Section 4.5a strictly.

;; 2. General Site Knowledge ;; 2.1 - The Isle of Lumen ;; 2.1a - History For a complete history of the Isle of Lumen, please visit our wiki page.
;; 2.1b - The Isle of Lumen Plot and Map When the Isle of Lumen was created thousands of years ago, peace ruled the land, and the world lived in a co-existing fashion. Today, much of the same feelings remain, but each race is getting much more cautious amongst eachother. They have since all gone their seperate ways, but relationships, for the most part, remain intact.
As usual, groups of nomads travel the island, keeping their bonds despite their different races. At the same time, each of the four regions, noted by the compass positions, house their respective races, and most cities offer accomodation for travelers as well as supplies, while on the Bàrn Island, The Council city of Omnus Valley govens over the main isle.
As if tensions could not be tight enough amongst the once tight-knit people of the Isle, trouble brews in the most northern region, specifically in the Wastelands and Laurus Valley, or so says more than a few rumors that have since spread remarkably. It is rumored that a cluster of Isle inhabitants have banded to create a group set out to destroy The Council, and the government of the Isle of Lumen itself. Anxiousness peaks as citizens wonder if the rumors are all true, and if they are...
Where do you stand?
Isle of Lumen Map Obviously with a few eraser marks still visible, this is the map of the Isle of Lumen (hand drawn by yours truly). If you compare this image to the descriptions for each City/Board you'll see that they precisely correspond to the map.
The four seas (North, South, East, and West) have not been marked, but their locations are obvious, and their borders are also unmarked. The Djüp Sea is part of the South sea, and encompasses the visible bay there.
;; 2.1c - The Council The Council, a group of six people, each of a different class, are solely responsible for the written laws of the Isle of Lumen, and for the safety of everyone living on it.
; The Lorekeeper - Càrrec Lahey
; The Warrior - Hyacinth Erasmus
; The Mage
; The Healer
; The Elemental
; The Herbalist
;; 2.2 - Important Terms Class - A specific branch of being that defines your abilities, whether they be magical, physical, et. al.. Warrior, Lorekeeper, Mage, Elemental, Healer, Herbalist. [See 3.2b]
Creature Duel - A certain form of dueling that involves one character (account) versus the "Creature" account. This creature can take the forms of dozens of different mythical beasts. The creature account also acts as the Dueling Moderator. [See 4.4a]
Currency - Simply, "money" in the form of gold, silver, and copper that can be used to purchase an array of different items, such as food, clothing, books, weapons, herbs, jewlery, rare collectibles, and so on. [See 4.1a]
Group Duel - A certain form of dueling that involves one group of Nomads dueling another group of Nomads. [See 4.4a]
Nomad Group - A group of five members who have the option of dueling and traveling together. Nomad Groups can create alliances as well as hostilities with other groups. At one time, each character (or account) is permitted to only one Nomad Group. [See 4.5a]
One-on-One Duel - A certain form of dueling that involves two people dueling each other for a pre-determined prize. [See 4.4a]
Personal Inventory - An inventory that can hold any number of items that a character acquires throughout their travels on the Isle of Lumen. These items can be sold in a Merchant cart. [See 4.1b]
Race - A specific breed of being on the Isle of Lumen that decides the basis of your appearance and what Classes you can choose from. [See 3.2a]
Shop Inventory - An inventory that can hold any number of items that a shopkeeper of a small or large shop buys directly from the Council Members. These items when purchased are priced down immensely, so that the shopkeepers can make a profit on their items when they put them in stock in their own shop. [See 4.2]

;; 3. Races & Classes ;; 3.1 - Races High Elf ;;
High Elves are generally regarded as being very intelligent and graceful. They are nearly-immortal, they can be killed, but can not die of illness or natural causes. They age about five times slower than a human. Their most noticable feature is their pointy ears.
Dark Elf ;;
Dark Elves are noted for being nearly as intelligent as their cousins the High Elves, but prefer to keep to themselves, and are therefore not as noted for it. Like their cousins, they are near-immortal, and age at the same speed as High Elves. They have pointy ears as well, but are more noted for their pale skin.
Human ;;
Humans are not, as some would assume, very intelligent compared to most other races on the Isle of Lumen, and are more noted for their brawn above most other characteristics.
Vampire ;;
Vampires are among the most unknown races on the Isle of Lumen, though as far as everyone is aware, they possess common intelligence. Their skin is extremely pale, almost white, but this is not what draws them from the other races on Lumen. Their fangs, which are can be hidden at any given time, are extremely noticable when visible, and usually protrude from the mouth slightly.
Werewolf ;;
Werewolves are the only shape-shifting beings on the Isle of Lumen. They can appear to be rather dark-skinned in their human form, and can grow to about twice their size (or even larger) when fully transformed. They generally despise Vampires, though this trend has seemed to change over several generations.
Angel ;;
Angels are usually the most beautiful beings on the Isle of Lumen, usually light-skinned and blond, though variations from this pattern are not uncommon. Though not generally intelligent, Angels are well known for their magical abilities.
Demon ;;
Demons, despite their foreboding name, are normally not very dangerous, and even occasionally friendly. Like their cousin the Angel, Demons are known for their magical powers, but are more noted for their monochromatic features. They will normally have pale skin, and black or dark hair.
;; 3.2 - Classes Warrior ;;
Praying that the time does not come, warriors are located in every city of Lumen to ensure the protection of the people living there. Powers this class possesses is the use of swords, axes, bow and arrows, and generally any other weapon.
Lorekeeper ;;
Lorekeepers are groups of people that are generally very intelligent, and use this intelligence to summon magic of old, the kind that has all but left this world to do several deeds. The magic they summon is normally extremely powerful, and can do wonderful (or terrible) things. The magic they have is, however, limited, and is often strength-reducing.
Mage ;;
Mages are similar to Lorekeepers, but possess a newer form of magic that is much more popular, though a lot less powerful. It can, however, be used in more quantity than the magic Lorekeepers possess, and there are normally much more to choose from.
Healer ;;
Healers are a group of people that have magic specifically for the use of healing people. Seeing as this makes their abilities rather limited, Healers are also naturally good at archery.
Elemental ;;
Elementals can choose from any of the four elements: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. They can control any one of these four elements without the need of incantation, normally just involving movement (graceful in Air and Water, and rough and abrupt in Fire and Earth) of the arms, hands, feet, and legs. Mindpower is key in this art, and therefore Elementals are usually very smart.
Herbalist ;;
Herbalists have the ability to create potions from different ingredients, and can perform simple incantations that are usually very beginner to most Mages. Though the potions they create usually take longer to create than a Healing spell would, the effects are usually much stronger.
;; 3.3 - Compatabilities

; Human -Warrior -Healer -Herbalist
; Vampire -Lorekeeper -Mage -Elemental
; Werewolf -Warrior -Elemental -Herbalist

;; 4. Interactive Role-Playing ;; 4.1 - Currency and Inventory ; 4.1a - Currency On the Isle of Lumen, there are three forms of currency: gold, silver, and copper coins. Seven silver makes a gold, and fourteen copper makes a silver (thus, 98 copper makes a gold). This currency may be used to buy items and place wagers on a duel or gamble. You can earn currency by posting, earning money in a shop, dueling, gambling, or through a random event.
; 4.1b - Inventory Of course, with currency, you need something to buy! Every character (account) has their own Inventory, which the owner can stock with any items they get upon their travels. I fyou ever wish to use or equip an item, you need only PM a member of staff, and they'll be happy to oblige. You'll even receive a reply with your updated inventory. Items you can own include weapons, magical items, expensive or rare collectibles, food, books to help you learn new spells or fighting styles, and more.
;; 4.2 - Owning a Shop An easy way to earn money on the Isle of Lumen is through owning a shop. There are two kinds of shops: a merchant cart, and an actual "store". A merchant cart is simple: for a fee of five gold, you can sell items directly out of your personal inventory. There is no limit to the amount of items you sell, as long as they come from your personal inventory.
An "actual" shop is quite different. There are two types of these shops - Small and Large. A small shop is limited to 150 items, while a large shop can hold 500. A small shop is also limited to a single thread (like a merchant cart, but stickied), while a large shop gets its own sub-board. For a small shop, you pay a price of 50 gold at first, with a weekly rent of 2 gold. For a large shop you pay a price of 100 gold at first, with a weekly rent of 5 gold. These shops have thir own inventory (called a "Shop Inventory") that is stocked very specially. To stock your Shop Inventory, you must contact a member of staff, who will give you a list of items with their heavily discounted prices. Select the items and how many you want, and pay. The items are now in your store inventory, and you can place them in your store stock at any time.
With all stores, the prices are yours to set. Just make sure you are making a profit, but at the same time make sure your prices aren't higher than your competition!
When you make a sale, you must alert a staff member at once to complete the transaction (you get the payment; buyer gets the item)
You are recommended to keep a log of all transactions, but this is not required. It is recommended to also let the buyer know that you have sent in the transaction to a staff member, so that they know they are not waiting on you.
Note: Please feel free to ask a staff member every once in a while to "clean up" your shop - delete old posts and threads.
Transaction Form (to be given to staff member after making a sale, so they can give you money, and give the buyer the item):
I understand that upon payment, the selected items will be removed from my store's stock. Failure to do so without specific reason will result in the closing of my shop without refund.
Seller's Username (Not Display Name): Seller's Store URL: Buyer's Username: Items Purchased with Quantity: [Example: Apple x1, Bread x3] Total Price:
I ensure that the above information is correct, without error neither intentional or otherwise. I understand that unless immediate corrections are made in case of error, my store will be closed without refund.
Shopkeepers: Save this form somewhere easy to locate for a quick transaction, or bookmark this page.
;; 4.3 - Buyer's Guide Owning a shop is tricky business, so making it as painless as possible for our lovely Isle of Lumen shopkeepers is a must. Please heed the following:
1; Be aware of possible fraud. Don't get yourself scammed. The staff will look out for you, but we can be distracted and may not always catch this. Keep an eye out, and report any fraud you see.
2; Ask any questions you may have as thoroughly as possible the first time, and don't take up an entire post just thanking someone, especially in a merchant cart or small shop, which is only one thread.
3; Scout for deals! Never pay too much!
4; Please use the below form when purchasing an item:
Buying Form:
The following is my completed list of desired items and their quantities. I understand that after submitting this form, the transaction is final. I can afford the following.
[Item] - x [Amount You Want] - [Sub-Total] [Item] - x [Amount You Want] - [Sub-Total]
Total = [Total Price]
Note: Copy the [Item] - x [Amount You Want] - [Sub-Total] as necessary.
Shopkeepers: Strongly consider putting this form above or below your shop's stock.
;; 4.4 - Dueling and Gambling ;; 4.4a - Dueling Mini-Guide Dueling Guidebook
1. Introduction 1.a Creature Dueling 1.b One-on-One Dueling 1.c Group Dueling
2. How To Fight 2.a Your Inventory 2.b Magic/Moves 2.c Dueling Moderators
3. Guidelines
-------------------------------------------------
1. Introduction
1.a Creature Dueling ;;
Creature Dueling involves you versus the 'Creature' account, who will take on the role of a random creature you may encounter on the Isle of Lumen. Though you will never be matched to a character that you could not possibly win to, expect great challenges if you dare to venture deep enough.
To fight the Creature account, create a thread with "Creature" in the title (Example: "Waiting for the Creature") and eventually, one will show. The Creature account will post what level it is, its HP (Health Points), along with what creature it is. It will also post your Health Points. From that point, you may procceed the fight. [See: 2. How to Fight] The winner is the one who defeats their foe first.
1.b One-on-One Dueling
One-on-One Dueling involves you fighting with one other person on the site, while being moderated by a Dueling Moderator. The person you fight with can be pre-determined between the two of you, or it can be random to whoever wishes to fight you. The duel begins when the two of you agree to duel eachother, and determine the prizes you will award eachother. When that is all done, the Dueling Moderator will enter, first stating the prizes for whoever wins, and then the HP and Class Points of each participant. The Moderator will then ask the first participant to post what he/she will do, followed by the second participant. The rest is straightforward. The winner is the one who defeats their foe first.
1.c Group Dueling
If your Nomad Group has a beef with another, feel free to enter the two groups in a Group Duel. Group Duels are similar to One-on-One Duels, only with more people joining. The winner of Group Duels is the one who defeats all members of an opposing group. The prize will normally be Gold, which is payed and divided between all members of the group.
2. How to Fight
2.a Your Inventory
To fight properly, you should have a few things on hand in your Inventory. These can include: Potions, Weapons, Staffs, Shields, etc. These can be used throughout most of your duels, and may give you extra options while you fight, as well as a large advantage.
2.b Magic/Moves
If you have purchased a book from a bookstore but have not yet opened it, do so now! Depending on your Class, you can recieve a Spell or Fighting Move available to you exclusively by reading it. These are normally much more powerful than default moves you will have, and are useful to any fighter. Warriors and other Classes that can wield weapons can learn physical moves to fight with, while Spell-casters can learn more powerful spells with a variety of outcomes.
2.c Dueling Moderators
Dueling Moderators are there to ensure that the dueling process goes smoothly, and that rules are being followed. They are in charge of calculating the players' HP and Class Points, and they keep track of whether or not you can use a certain item/move. You may not carry out a Duel without one. (Unless you are Dueling the 'Creature', in which that account is the Moderator in itself.)
3. Guidelines
1; Do not make your posts irrelevant to the duel. They will be deleted by the moderator.
2; You are expected to keep on top of your inventory, and therefore if you attempt to use an item you do not actually have, you will recieve a warning, followed by a loss of the duel, and then a banning from dueling for a period of time.
3; Never question the authority of the Dueling Moderator. Simple miscalculations can be notified, but if he/she insists it is correct, so be it. If you feel like you are being truely cheated by the Moderator, notify a higher staff member.
4; Everything that a Dueling Moderator asks of you should be completed as soon as you can, so as to keep the duel moving along.
5; If a person has not posted to a duel in three days without notified absense, the duel is over and the opposing dueler wins.
;; 4.4b - Gambling Gambling is easy enough. Entering into a staff-created bar, pub, or tavern is an easy way to gamble, because you will always find one there. (Of course, the gambler, who we affectionately called the "Gamble Master" is always going to be a staff member anyway.) There are several forms of gambling, including Flip a Coin, Pick a Card, Guess a Number, and Roll the Dice.
Flip a Coin Simple. Ask the Gamble Master to flip a coin, lay a few shiny coins on the table, and hang on. It's fifty-fifty, and you win double what you put down if you win. You can play as many rounds as you like to double your amount even more, but beware - if you lose, you have to pay that amount as well!
Pick a Card Similar to Flip a Coin, but this time you can choose to pick between three or four cards. For three, you win three times the amount you put down. For four, you win four times the amount. Like with Flip a Coin, you can play as many rounds you like (or can afford) until you take your winnings or lose.
Guess a Number For only ten silver coins, you can try your luck at guessing a number. If you win, you receive a prize twice the amount of numbers you had to choose from (50 numbers x 2 = 100 silver). Of course, you get to choose between 10, 25, 50, and 100 numbers.
Roll the Dice Lay two pretty gold coins on the table, and try your luck! Five dice, and you're trying to get all sixes for a grand prize of 100 gold coins!
Note: Remember, the Gamble Masters want you to win! The cash isn't coming out of their pockets, remember! All gambles are generated by random.org.
;; 4.5 - Nomad Groups Nomad Groups are actually quite popular on the Isle of Lumen, and a prudent choice when making very distant travels. Nomad Groups can work together to duel and they can travel together (meaning they can Role-Play in certain areas with one another). Alliances between Groups can be made as well as Hostilities, which can help to fuel Group duels.
Please contact a staff member if you are interested in creating a Nomad Group. They will be listed here.
